The Barrie Public Library has been improving lives in our community for over 140 years. Books, magazines, entertaining and instructional videos and DVDs, audio-books, music CDs and interactive CD-ROMs may all be borrowed from the library free of charge with your Barrie Public Library card. Books and videos in eight languages besides English and French are also available.

There are programmes for all ages from newborns to mature adults. Storytimes and tours in English and French may be requested by your group year round.

Access the Internet and specialized electronic resource workstations free of charge. The Library offers free Internet or email workshops for all ages and levels and specialized information needs.

Residents of Oro-Medonte are entitled to use the services of Barrie Public Library.

Barrie Landfill

Hours: Tuesday to Saturday: 9 am to 4 pm
Closed: Sundays, Mondays and Holidays

Each Barrie residence is permitted up to 500kg of free disposal of household and yard clean-up waste each year. Once the 500kg limit has been reached the fee is $52.50 per tonne for yard waste and $105 per tonne for garbage.

Barrie's Recycling Program

To have a recycling box delivered to your home (limit 2) please call (705) 739-4219, press 1. Boxes are also available at the City of Barrie Enviromental Centre, 272 Ferndale Drive North.
